To increase biodiversity through better habitats and food for insects, birds and other animals, we have established a flower meadow on our production site in Køge. We have established the flower meadow on a 1,500 m2 area reserved for future expansion of production.
The flower meadow is established with the help of a professional horticultural company, and we have chosen a perennial seed mix with 21 different wildflowers that are particularly suitable for attracting butterflies. The flower meadow blooms from April to September.
Usually insects are not so well related to pharmaceutical production, but the flower meadow actually helps to keep the insects away from the production facilities, as the insects would rather be close to the flowers. The flower meadow also results in a CO2 saving from the previous weekly mowing with petrol-powered machines.
